Reedy Creek Improvement District is under attack!!!
Reedy Creek Improvement District was created in 1967 by the Florida State Legislature to manage the infrastructure and operations of the newly developed Walt Disney World Resort in central Florida. The district covers an area of 38 square miles and includes the resort’s theme parks, hotels, transportation systems, and other facilities.
The creation of the district was a unique solution to the challenge of managing a large-scale development such as Walt Disney World. The district was granted significant autonomy to operate and manage its own services, including emergency services, utilities, and transportation systems.
Since its creation, Reedy Creek Improvement District has played a critical role in the success of Walt Disney World Resort. The district’s innovative management practices and dedication to maintaining high standards of service have helped make the resort a global destination for tourism and entertainment.
Today, Reedy Creek Improvement District continues to operate as an independent government entity, with a board of supervisors elected by property owners within the district. The district’s mission is to provide efficient and effective services to support the continued growth and success of the Walt Disney World Resort, while also protecting the natural resources and environment of the surrounding area.
